Primary and noncontributory
Wording that says your policy should respond first and not seek contribution from the additional insured’s own policy.
What it means
Additional-insured endorsements do not always include this. Some policies add a separate endorsement; some manuscript the CG 20 10. If a contract requires P&N, look for those words on an endorsement, not only on a certificate.
Why it shows up
Owner and GC contracts treat this as a checkbox. Absence of the words is a common reason a certificate gets rejected.
What to look for
- Separate P&N endorsement
- Language inside the AI endorsement
- Umbrella following form
Coverbird reads the declarations and form schedule on the PDF you already have. It does not sell insurance or say whether a limit is enough.
Upload a policy to find this on yoursForms that implement this
- CG 20 10 — Additional Insured — Owners, Lessees or Contractors — Scheduled Person or Organization
- CG 20 37 — Additional Insured — Owners, Lessees or Contractors — Completed Operations
- CG 20 33 — Additional Insured — Owners, Lessees or Contractors — Automatic Status When Required in Construction Agreement
Related terms
- Additional insured
Someone added to your liability policy by endorsement, usually because a contract asked for it.
- Certificate of insurance
A snapshot someone else asked for. It is not the policy and does not change the policy.
